The annual show at Scottsdale
is the showcase for the regions agricultural diversity and wealth. This
small northern town is situated between the ferry terminal of Devonport
and the holiday east coast and within an hour of Launceston.
Judging in the Homecrafts
Pavilion commences Thursday with all other judging taking place on Friday
and Saturday.
Horse events cater for entries
from all ages and categories and are conducted on both days.
Wood chopping and shearing
competitions are held on Saturday.
The show commences on Friday
morning with gates opening at 7:00am both days and on Friday evening
entertainment in the form of a band continues to 10:00pm.
Most years see some novelty
events and displays along with regular country flavoured fashion parades,
home crafts and trade exhibits.
Livestock shown is mainly
cattle but goats and fat lambs are also to be seen.
There is an animal nursery
that features an interactive display where you can get in and up close
to many of your farmyard favourites.
Cattle handling has proven
popular with our youth of all ages with many schools entering from all
over the state, camping overnight to care for and prepare their stock
for Saturday competition and honours, concluding with the grand parade
of stock and champions.
Sideshow alley will entertain
the children and food of all types including gourmet is available.
