THE CONCEPT
To establish a central,
internet-based communication portal for the Dorset community, which
is vigorously promoted, actively utilised and efficiently maintained
and updated.

THE OBJECTIVES
To promote and disseminate
key information about Dorset's primary community groups. This
information would include contact information, relevant data and
documentation, notice of meetings and events etc. Dorset's primary
community groups were identified at Dorset Future Search 2001and
include:-
- Natural resource management
- Tourism
- Economic Development
- Council
- Dorset Health Group
and Youth
- Transport and Access
- Education and Learning
- Sport
- Cultural Development
and Arts
- Agriculture and Forestry

To connect community
organisations, businesses and individuals to training and learning
opportunities without unnecessary duplication through e-technology.

To provide a regularly
updated community calendar of events and activities. This would
predominantly serve the Dorset community, but also be a focal
point for people outside the region and visitors to Dorset.§

To provide a 'one stop
shop' for local data (Eg: Dorset Natural Resource Management Strategy),
and links to other information and service providers outside the
region (Eg: federal and state govt agencies, national bodies,
grant providers etc).

To ENHANCE
the activities of Dorset's Online Access Centres
